Immersive skilled trades training provider Interplay Learning secured funding from Goldman Sachs Alternatives and acquired Industrial Training International (ITI). Richard Waitumbi, managing director at Goldman Sachs, will join Interplay's board of directors.
The funds will be used to expand Interplay's footprint in key sectors, particularly the industrial sector. The acquisition of ITI will allow Interplay to provide immersive simulation training solutions for crane and rigging operations across various job sites.
Interplay's platform offers over 500 hours of courseware for various trades, using AI and 3D simulations. The company aims to address the skilled labor shortage, with the US Labor Statistics estimating 1.5 million new skilled trade jobs by 2029 and insufficient workers to fill them.
