Alibaba, the Chinese ecommerce platform, has released more than 100 open-source AI models and updates to its technology as part of a continued effort to increase its competitiveness between domestic and international rivals.
The company claims that the models have enhanced mathematics and coding capabilities. The new models, known as "Qwen 2.5," can generate texts and images from prompts and will be made open-source for use across several industries, such as automobiles, gaming, and science research.
Alibaba also released upgrades for its proprietary flagship model, Qwen-Max, which it claims exceeds the performance of rivals like Meta's Llama and OpenAI's GPT4 in areas such as reasoning and language comprehension. The launch also included a new text-to-video tool, which allows users to generate video-based text prompts.
