Ajinomoto, a Japanese food corporation, and Danone, a global food company, have partnered to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the dairy industry using AjiPro-L, a lysine feed supplement.
The partnership aims to reduce GHG emissions from multiple sources in the milk supply chain while lowering farmers' costs. AjiPro-L decreases the need for high-protein feed like soybean meal, reducing the carbon footprint associated with feed procurement by about 20% and nitrous oxide emissions from manure by approximately 25%.
Ajinomoto and Danone will introduce AjiPro-L to Danone's contracted farmers in Spain, Brazil, the US, Egypt, and Morocco as part of the agreement. The companies will also work on incorporating the solution into tools for quantifying GHG reductions.
