Einride, an autonomous truck manufacturer, raised USD 110 million in a Series B funding round, bringing its total funds raised to around USD 150 million. The round included participation from new investors Maersk Growth, Singapore’s Temasek Holdings, Soros Fund Management, Northzone, and five existing investors. Although the valuation of the company was not disclosed, it claims to be approaching unicorn status.
The company intends to utilize the new funds to scale up deployments in Europe (to include the UK, Germany, France, the Nordics, and Benelux) and expand to the US this year. The company is looking to establish its US headquarters in Austin, Texas, ahead of expansion.
Einride is a Swedish startup that focuses on pods designed to haul freight, named Autonomous Electric Transports (AETs), which are currently available for preorder. Einride has several commercial contracts with local businesses, including DB Schenker, Lidl, Oatly, and Electrolux.
