Lyft partners with Smartcar to address EV range anxiety for drivers

Partnerships

  • Lyft, a major transportation network, partnered with Smartcar, an API platform for mobility businesses, to address range anxiety for EV drivers.

  • The partnership introduces Lyft's "Rides in Range" feature, which uses Smartcar's API to access EV battery data. This ensures drivers only receive ride requests within their current battery range, with a 20-mile buffer. The feature also alerts drivers to charge after completing a trip if their battery level is expected to fall below 20%.

  • By addressing range anxiety, the top concern for EV drivers on Lyft, the partnership aims to improve driver confidence, increase trip acceptance, and support Lyft's goal of reaching 100 million EV rides on the platform by the end of 2025.
