Ubiquitous Energy, a transparent solar startup, raised USD 8 million in a Series B round from ENEOS Holdings, a Japanese petroleum and metals conglomerate.
The round brings Ubiquitous Energy’s total funding up to USD 50 million. Ubiquitous Energy expects to use the cash to commercialize its products in the US and internationally. Ubiquitous Energy also plans to collaborate with ENEOS to power smart cities using its transparent solar technology.
Ubiquitous Energy’s patented technology selectively captures ultraviolet and infrared light while allowing visible light to pass through, allowing for transparent solar panels. Ubiquitous Energy uses these transparent solar panels to install solar windows for residential and commercial units that can generate electricity.
