Those Vegan Cowboys to enter US market with novel microbial casein

Geographic expansion

  • Belgian biotech company Those Vegan Cowboys plans to enter the US market by mid-2025 with a new type of microbial casein. After obtaining novel food approval, it aims to supply this casein to dairy producers and launch an animal-free cheese line for consumers.

  • The expansion is driven by the performance of the company's microbial casein, which is claimed to outperform cow's casein in cheese production. Those Vegan Cowboys claims its microbial casein offers improved properties such as better stretch and a lower melting point, potentially reducing costs for cheese producers. This claimed functional advantage and sustainability benefits position the company for a strong market entry to the US.
