Lohum Cleantech, an India-based battery recycler has entered a joint venture with battery metals and earth elements recycler ReElement Technologies and American Metals, raising USD 30 million to establish a lithium-ion battery materials processing facility in the US.
The funds will be used to set up a 15.5 GWh fully integrated battery recycling, repurposing, and critical material production plant in Indiana, with plans to expand to other locations.
The facility is expected to initially cater to over 315,000 electric vehicles annually, create 250 green jobs, and produce critical materials with a purity of more than 99.5% for the US domestic battery ecosystem.
