ERI, a US-based recycler of electronic waste, has opened its first alkaline battery recycling plant in Plainfield, Indiana. The plant is co-located within ERI's existing 315,000 sq ft e-scrap recycling and ITAD facility.
The plant is reported to use proprietary technology to recycle millions of pounds of alkaline batteries annually. It is claimed to be able to process every type of alkaline battery and produce zero waste products, yielding clean commodity outputs and creating a circular ecosystem.
ERI also reports plans to open several additional alkaline battery recycling plants throughout the US starting in 2025.
