LayerZero, a developer of an omnichain interoperability protocol, and EigenLayer, the developer of the EigenLayer protocol, have jointly developed and launched the CryptoEconomic Decentralized Verifier Networks (DVNs) Framework. This open-source framework allows users to bootstrap a DVN on EigenLayer using various tokens and operators.
The CryptoEconomic DVN Framework introduces a system where verifiers stake assets like ZRO, EIGEN, and ETH to provide economic security for message verification across blockchains. It operates through a structured verification process, veto, and slashing, ensuring accountability and reliability in cross-chain communication.
According to the companies, this framework aims to enhance blockchain interoperability by creating a marketplace for verifiers, allowing applications to select DVNs based on their security needs. It also provides a transparent way to assess DVN reliability through the value of staked assets and the risk of slashing.
Analyst QuickTake: LayerZero's focus on improving blockchain interoperability is highlighted by its earlier partnerships. In July 2024, it teamed up with Initia Labs , a Move-based layer-1 network, to create an interoperability standard for Cosmos. This collaboration allows Cosmos SDK-based chains to connect with LayerZero-enabled chains using a Cosmos SDK Module. Additionally, LayerZero partnered with Animoca Brands to enhance the compatibility of digital assets in the Web3 gaming space.
