Waymo, the self-driving tech development unit of Alphabet, has partnered with Hyundai to obtain Hyundai IONIQ 5 EVs and retrofit them with Waymo's sixth-generation self-driving technology for its robotaxi fleet operations.
The company intends to commence on-road testing by late 2025 and launch the service publicly in subsequent years.
The addition of the IONIQ 5, known for its efficiency and fast-charging capabilities, is expected to enhance Waymo's fleet performance and uptime.
