PLD Space, a Spanish private space company, has presented plans for MIURA Next, a family of large reusable launchers, and LINCE, Europe's first private manned capsule. The company also provided updates on its MIURA 5 launch system program, which is expected to launch from French Guiana in the second half of 2025.
The MIURA Next family will include three sizes: MIURA Next, MIURA Next Heavy, and MIURA Next Super Heavy. The largest version, MIURA Next Super Heavy, will be capable of carrying payloads up to 50 tons into orbit and potentially deliver cargo to the Moon and Mars. The 8m3 LINCE capsule is designed to take people to space and return them safely to Earth.
PLD Space aims to start testing the LINCE capsule in 2025, with its first unmanned test flight scheduled for 2028. The company expects to achieve the first orbital flight in 2030. Additionally, PLD Space plans to increase its production capacity, aiming to produce up to six MIURA 5 launchers and 60 TEPREL-C engines per year by 2025 at its new facility in Elx.
