Skyfly begins manned flight tests for Axe eVTOL

Product updates

  • Skyfly, a British eVTOL aircraft company, has begun manned flight tests of its Axe aircraft after receiving approval from the UK Civil Aviation Authority (CAA). The Axe is designed for vertical take-off and landing and conventional runway operations.

  • The Axe eVTOL features control surfaces and a mechanical control system that allows it to perform vertical take-offs, landings, and conventional "fixed-wing" operations. The CAA has granted approval for both flight envelopes and determined that a PPL-A holder can pilot the Axe after differences training.

  • Skyfly claims that the CAA's proactive approach has helped it to maintain its development schedule. The company plans to conduct further flight tests at a remote site in the UK Midlands.
