SupPlant, an Israeli precision agriculture startup, announced that it raised USD 10 million in funding, bringing its total financing to USD 19 million. The leading investors were Boresight Capital, Menomadin Foundation, Smart-Agro Fund, and Mivtah Shamir.
The funding is expected to accelerate the development of its new sensorless irrigation product, which will use big data collected from more than 1,500 growing seasons to provide irrigation management solutions and predictions with the help of algorithms. The company claims that the service will be available even to small growers and will also help optimize water usage.
SupPlant expects the technology to be deployed by 500,000 farmers in Kenya by September 2021. The company is also targeting over two million small growers in South Africa and India.
Founded in 2012, SupPlant provides hardware and software precision agriculture solutions across Mexico, Argentina, South Africa, and Australia.
