Joby Aviation, an electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft manufacturer, conducted its first international flight demonstration at Toyota Technical Center in Higashi-Fuji, Japan.
A key feature highlighted during the demonstration was the aircraft's low noise level compared to conventional helicopters.
Joby aims to expand its presence in Japan, having partnered with ANA Holdings and has also been selected to operate demonstration services at the upcoming Osaka Expo 2025, scheduled between April and October 2025.
Analyst QuickTake: Joby Aviation also received support from Toyota to complete the Federal Aviation Administration's (FAA) type 2 certification process. This was via USD 500 million funding from Toyota Motor Corporation. The latter has invested USD 894 million, making it Joby’s largest shareholder.
