Syre, a textile-to-textile polyester recycling firm, has partnered with Selenis, a specialty polyester solutions supplier, to establish a circular polyester production facility.
The partnership will expand Selenis' existing plant in Cedar Creek, North Carolina, with Syre building an adjoining facility to create a continuous production flow from depolymerization to polymerization. The plant aims to produce 10,000 metric tons of circular polyester annually by mid-2025, reducing CO2e emissions by up to 85% compared to virgin polyester production.
Analyst QuickTake: In May 2024 , the company also raised USD 100 million to construct its blueprint textile-to-textile recycling plant in the US. The company also intends to establish two giga-scale textile-to-textile recycling plants in Vietnam and Iberia, with construction commencing in 2025.
