Cerence, a developer of AI-based voice assistant technology for automobiles, has introduced "CaLLM Edge," an automotive-grade embedded small language model (SLM). The model is available within Cerence's existing solutions portfolio and can be accessed through Cerence's automaker customers and the Microsoft Azure AI model catalog.
The model can handle car control commands, point-of-interest search, navigation, and conversational interactions. It is compatible with major automotive platforms in embedded-only and hybrid deployments.
The company claims CaLLM Edge provides always-on access to GenAI features without connectivity, improved data privacy by keeping data within the car, and cost efficiency for automakers while delivering GenAI-based experiences for drivers.
Analyst QuickTake: Today’s release adds CaLLM Edge to Cerence’s recent language model launches, including CaLLM , introduced in December 2023, which leverages NVIDIA's large LLM technology and is designed to integrate within Cerence's in-car computing platform to support customizable applications through conversational voice interactions .
