ecoRobotix, a Switzerland-based startup manufacturing AI-based precision farming robots with a low environmental impact, raised USD 14.7 million in Series C funding. The round brings its total financing to USD 37.8 million. The funding round was led by Swisscom Ventures and Verve Ventures, with returning investors CapAgro, 4FO Ventures, and BASF Venture Capital also participating.
The funding will be used to accelerate the production of the company’s ARA plant protection spraying machine and expand sales across Europe.
The funding will also be used to develop the company’s robotic technology to include autonomous spraying solutions and introduce cloud-based services. Swisscom is expected to collaborate with ecoRobotix to develop new cloud-based services and solutions using advanced technologies such as 5G.
ecoRobotix claims that its product is gaining traction in Europe, with sales tripling over the last few months.
Founded in 2014, ecoRobotix offers high-precision spraying and weeding machines called ARA and AVA, respectively, allowing farmers to save 95% of plant protection products and increase crop yield by 5%-10%.
