Blue Origin has partnered with AST SpaceMobile, a company focused on space-based cellular broadband, to launch several Block 2 BlueBird satellites into low Earth orbit using New Glenn rockets.
Blue Origin will launch multiple Block 2 BlueBird satellites into low Earth orbit (LEO) using New Glenn rockets over a multi-year period from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station. The seven-meter fairing of New Glenn reportedly offers twice the payload volume of any five-meter class commercial launch system, enabling greater satellite deployment and improved cellular broadband coverage worldwide.
The partnership aims to expand AST SpaceMobile’s cellular broadband network, enabling direct smartphone connectivity and seamless transitions between terrestrial cell towers and satellite signals.
