Impulse Space, a startup focused on in-space transportation, has signed a contract with SpaceX to purchase three Falcon 9 launches for its Helios transfer vehicle, with the first launch scheduled for mid-2026.
The first launch will send Impulse Space's Mira vehicle with a commercial optical payload from low Earth orbit to geostationary transfer orbit as part of the Space Force's Victus Surgo mission. The schedule and payloads for the remaining two Helios launches are yet to be determined.
The partnership utilizes SpaceX's Launch Complex 39A in Florida, which is equipped to fuel payloads with liquid oxygen and methane, essential for powering Impulse Space's Helios vehicle with the Deneb engine.
