Gather AI, an inventory intelligence company using drone technology, has expanded its automated inventory monitoring solution to include freezer and cold storage warehouse environments. The solution allows drones to perform inventory counts in cold storage facilities without requiring GPS, Wi-Fi, or infrastructure modifications.

The solution uses computer vision technology and machine learning algorithms to enable drones to autonomously scan warehouses and read barcodes, lot codes, text, expiration dates, case counts, and occupancy information. The system can reportedly scan up to 900 pallets per hour and improve inventory accuracy by up to 70%.

According to the company, the key benefits include reduced staff exposure to challenging cold conditions, improved inventory freshness through FIFO compliance, better monitoring of inventory age and expiration dates, prevention of shrinkage and mispicks, and enhanced traceability through digital twin visualization.
