LatConnect 60, an Earth observation company, has secured AUD 7 million (~USD 4.5 million) in funding. Half of the amount, AUD 3.5 million (~USD 2.3 million), is from the Western Australian Government's Investment Attraction Fund (IAF), with the remainder provided as co-investment by the company.
The funds will be used to construct Western Australia’s first commercial satellite assembly facility, focusing on payload development, integration, and manufacturing. Other allocations include sensor calibration, spectrum licensing, and operations related to ground segments and data processing.
LatConnect 60 plans to launch its first satellite in 2026. The satellite will be designed to monitor global greenhouse gas emissions. The planned constellation of 18 satellites in Western Australia aims to provide near-daily monitoring of assets worldwide.
