Sidus Space completes LizzieSat-2 satellite for December 2024 launch

Product updates

  • Sidus Space, a space-as-a-service satellite company, has completed launch preparations for its LizzieSat-2 satellite at the Astrotech Space Operations facility in California. It is scheduled to launch on SpaceX's Bandwagon-2 rideshare mission in December 2024.

  • LizzieSat-2 features an advanced suite of sensors, including AIS, multi-spectral methane detection, and high-resolution visual sensors, alongside the HEO Holmes Imager. Sidus’ FeatherEdge AI processor enables on-orbit data processing and the HEO Inspect platform supports non-Earth imaging and space object analysis.

  • The satellite is expected to deliver data through monthly subscriptions, supporting applications like space situational awareness, maritime monitoring, environmental assessments, and disaster response. Its modular design reportedly allows it to accommodate Sidus' sensors and customer payloads while providing near real-time data services.
