L3Harris completes design review for space communication radios

Product updates

  • L3Harris Technologies, an aerospace and defense technology company, has completed the design review for 45 mission payload radios and 40 CXK-1000 radios, advancing its role in delivering space-based solutions for the Space Development Agency's national security objectives.

  • Developed under Lockheed Martin Space's Tranche 2 Transport Layer Beta contract with the SDA, the mission payload radios handle warfighting data for integrated broadcast system low-Earth orbit (LEO) and tactical communications. CXK-1000 radios enable fast Ka-band links between satellites.

  • Aligned with SDA’s Proliferated Warfighter Space Architecture, the initiative targets a military satellite network in LEO. L3Harris aims to launch four missile-tracking satellites in early 2024, 16 by 2025, and 18 infrared space vehicles under a new missile detection contract.
