OpenAI launches ChatGPT Pro subscription with o1 reasoning model

Product updates

  • OpenAI has launched ChatGPT Pro, a new subscription tier for its AI-powered chatbot platform at USD 200 per month. The subscription provides unlimited access to all OpenAI models, including the full version of its o1 reasoning model. The subscription also includes unlimited access to GPT-4o and Advanced Voice Mode features.

  • The o1 reasoning model checks its work while processing tasks, helping avoid common AI pitfalls. The model now includes image upload analysis capabilities, has been trained for more concise thinking, and reduces major errors on difficult real-world questions by 34% compared to its preview version. ChatGPT Pro subscribers get access to o1 pro mode, which uses additional computing power for complex questions.

  • Analyst QuickTake: This move aligns with broader trends in the AI industry, where premium subscription models are becoming more common as companies seek to monetize advanced features. By offering a more powerful version of its AI, OpenAI caters to a niche market while reinforcing its competitive edge against rivals like Anthropic and Google, enhancing its offerings.
