AML3D, an Australian industrial metal 3D printing company, has established its US headquarters and manufacturing hub in Stow, Ohio. The facility is equipped with an ARCEMY system for metal 3D printing of industrial-scale parts, with a second system planned for early 2025.
The facility is already operational and processing a USD 1.46 million order from the Tennessee Valley Authority. The company plans to invest an additional USD 7.7 million to double capacity at Stow with up to two more ARCEMY systems to meet increased US Department of Defense spending on advanced manufacturing for the US Navy's Submarine Industrial Base.
The expansion supports AML3D's US "scale up" strategy, which has secured over USD 10.3 million in contracts since early 2023. The US-based manufacturing facility enables AML3D to access International Traffic in Arms Regulations and other US-controlled defense contracts.
Analyst QuickTake: AML3D has steadily been expanding its presence in the US since it first revealed its plans to build a new facility in Ohio during its USD 3.9 million fundraise in April. It raised a further AUD 30 million (USD 19.5 million) last month, which it earmarked to double the manufacturing capacity at this Ohio Technology Centre, which was not yet operational. Alongside these investments, the company has expanded its presence by securing US defense contracts with the US Navy and Boeing.
