Peloton to launch in-app video game, Lanebreak

Product updates

  • Connected fitness equipment manufacturer Peloton has announced plans to offer gamified features to its bike owners and subscribers by launching an in-app video game, tentatively dubbed “Lanebreak.” Peloton plans to launch the game’s beta version later this year, with the official launch set for early 2022.

  • The game involves controlling an on-screen rolling wheel and meeting goals by changing the cadence and resistance while riding the bike. Users have the option to choose the difficulty level and music for the game.

  • Several of Peloton’s competitors already offer connected fitness equipment with gamified features. These include Interactive Fitness, via its Expresso and CyberCycle bikes, as well as Ergatta, CityRow Go, and Aviron Interactive, manufacturers of indoor rowers with game-based workout programs.

  • Peloton offers the connected bikes “Peloton Bike” and “Bike+,” and the treadmills “Tread,” and “Tread+.” In addition, it provides a paid subscription offering users on-demand workout classes led by instructors from home as well as live-streamed classes in a group setting. Its products are currently available in the US, Canada, the UK, Germany, and Australia.
