Class Technologies, the developer of Class, a software that integrates exclusively with Zoom, raised USD 105 million in Series B funding in a round led by SoftBank's Vision Fund 2. Other participants included GSV Ventures, Emergence Capital, Maven Partners, Owl Ventures, Insight Partners, SWaN & Legend Venture Partners, Revolution's Rise of the Rest Fund, Learn Capital, Reach Capital, Slow Ventures, Sound Ventures, Chimera Investment, Daher Capital, Guy Oseary, Bill Tai, and Tom Brady.
The new funds will be allocated for domestic growth and expansion into new global markets. The company’s last funding round was in April, when it raised USD 12.25 million.
Formerly named ClassEDU, Class Technologies is the creator of Class, which comprises a suite of tools for teachers to create a more engaging learning experience on Zoom, making the virtual classroom feel more like a real classroom. Reportedly, more than 125,000 schools use Zoom as of February 2021. The company’s co-founder and CEO is Michael Chasen, the former co-founder and CEO of Blackboard. Class was launched for Apple’s macOS desktop operating system in September 2020 and was made available for Chromebooks, iPhone, Android, and Windows devices in June 2021. As of April 2021, Class had more than 125 paying customers, of which 10% were corporations, with the balance being evenly split between K-12 and higher education institutions. Class is used in the US and more than 20 countries globally as of July 2021.
