CropX, an Israeli developer of crop management platforms that provide farmers with precise predictions on information such as soil and weather conditions, has acquired Dacom Farm Intelligence, a Dutch crop management platform developed to optimize crop yield and quality. The transaction value is undisclosed and stated to be financed by both shares and cash.
Dacom Farm Intelligence provides farmers and agribusinesses with both hardware and software solutions, which mainly assist them in managing pesticide application and overall crop protection. As of date, the company claims to serve 3,000 customers and more than 20,000 farms in over 40 countries in Europe.
The acquisition will give CropX access to Dacom’s customer base in Europe, its management expertise, and an agriculture database that has accumulated farm data in Europe for over 20 years as well as its assets including weather stations and ground sensors.
CropX claims that Dacom is its largest acquisition to date, providing the company with 2.7 million acres in new farm area to be managed, which is more than four times the farm area it previously acquired. The previous acquisitions were US-based Crop Metrics (yield optimization platform with 500,000 acres) and New Zealand-based Regen (irrigation management platform with 170,000 acres).
The company considers its inorganic growth strategy to be a quick way to expand its market presence. The company reports that it is now looking to acquire a company in the carbon credit space to allow farmers to measure the carbon impact of various farm management methods.
