Carbon Robotics, a Seattle-based smart farming startup that develops robots to improve crop yield, raised USD 27 million in a Series B funding round led by Anthos Capital. Investors Ignition Partners, Fuse Venture Capital, Voyager Capital, Bolt, and Liquid2 Ventures also participated.
The funds will be used to scale production to meet the growing demand for its weed-killing robot, expand its engineering team, and set up regional sales and support teams for customers across the US. The company also plans to spend the funds towards R&D of new products and technology.
The company which launched its first weed-killing robot, Autonomous Weeder, in April 2021, reported that it now has bookings worth more than USD 20 million. In addition, the company reports that its production runs for 2021, and 2022 units have already been sold out, and it is currently accepting orders for the 2023 growing season.
