Kalera’s Houston facility will serve H-E-B grocery stores

Geographic expansion

  • Kalera, a hydroponic vertical farming operator, has announced that it will supply its vertically farmed produce to H-E-B grocery stores in Texas. H-E-B is known as the leading multi-unit grocery retailer in Texas with over 340 stores.

  • The collaboration will mark H-E-B as a significant customer to Kalera’s Houston facility, which is expected to be Texas’ largest vertical farm, and Kalera’s fourth farm, which is expected to begin harvest by the end of this month.

  • Recently, Kalera also started serving its leafy greens to 400 Kroger stores and 440 Publix locations and reports that it is looking to serve more grocery retailers in the US. In doing so, it is in talks for joint ventures and off-take agreements to expand internationally.
