Deel raises USD 425 million Series D funding round

Funding

  • Deel, a payroll and benefits platform, announced that it had raised USD 425 million in a Series D funding round led by Coatue. The round also included the participation of Altimeter Capital, Andreessen Horowitz, Neo, and Spark Capital.

  • The round brings the company’s total funding to USD 629 million. The Series D values Deel at USD 5.5 billion, reflecting a more than fourfold increase from its previous valuation of USD 1.3 billion (USD 156 million Series C, April 2021). The round comes on the heels of significant growth for the company; Deel claims its customer base grew 2.5x to 4,500 since April 2021.  In the same period, the company has more than tripled its headcount to 400.

  • The fresh capital will be funneled toward product development, exploring potential acquisition opportunities, and hiring.
