Twelve produces the first batch of sustainable aviation fuel

Product updates

  • Twelve, a carbon transformation startup, announced that it has produced the first batch of fossil-free jet fuel, called E-Jet, in partnership with Emerging Fuels Technology (EFT), a producer of sustainable aviation fuel.

  • E-Jet, which is produced using carbon dioxide electrolysis technology, is a replacement for petrochemical-based alternative fuel and does not require any changes to the existing plane design or commercial regulations.

  • For the E-Jet project, Twelve also partnered with the US Air Force`s Operational Energy Office through a joint contract with AFWERX (the innovation arm of the US Air Force) and SBIR (Small Business Innovation Research program) to increase the Air Force's fuel independence without compromising the quality of fuel.

  • The US Air Force has also supported the project by providing funding to produce the E-Jet fuel globally for both commercial and military aviation.
