B2C BNPL provider Sezzle announced that it has partnered with loyalty and payment solutions provider Alliance Data Systems (ADS) to integrate with ADS-owned Bread’s BNPL infrastructure solution. Bread is a white-label digital payment platform that was acquired by ADS in December 2020 for USD 450 million.
As part of the partnership, Sezzle plans to offer Bread’s BNPL solutions to more than 40,000 existing merchant partners alongside its current BNPL solutions beginning in early 2022. Bread is expected to originate the loans through its affiliate Comenity Capital Bank.
Sezzle aims to leverage Bread’s underwriting technology and financing solutions to penetrate big-ticket shoppers as well as expand its offering to existing merchant partners.
Analyst QuickTake : Competing against the likes of Afterpay and Affirm in the US, Sezzle has been aggressive in appealing to a wider customer and merchant base. It recently announced a tie-up with US retail giant Target; Sezzle expects to maintain the momentum with this strategic partnership. By offering Bread alongside its existing solutions, Sezzle merchants can now offer more payment options at checkout, as Sezzle aims to penetrate big-ticket shoppers to increase its wallet share.
