Hyzon Motors launches Australia’s first hydrogen coach

Product updates
Partnerships

  • Hyzon Motors, a developer of commercial hydrogen fuel-cell vehicles (FCEVs), in partnership with BLK Auto, an Australian vehicle importer and distributor, has announced the launch of Australia’s first hydrogen-powered coach.

  • The hydrogen coach is an outcome of a yearlong combination of a Hyzon Motors and BLK Auto partnership, involving the integration of Hyzon Motors hydrogen fuel cell technology and BLK Auto’s chassis. The coach is powered by a lithium-ion battery and a hydrogen fuel cell.

  • The coach has undergone 15,000 kilometers of testing. Production of nine coaches will commence next week and is expected to be completed by the end of the year. Customer orders are expected to be taken soon.

  • Analyst QuickTake: Hyzon is primarily a fuel-cell truck-maker, and this is the first time that the company disclosed any commercialization plans for its hydrogen coaches. For trucks, Hyzon plans to commercialize in 2021 and has amassed 2,000+ orders to date through 2026. The company’s overall plan is to deliver around 5,000 trucks and buses over 2021–2023 and more than 40,000 by 2025.
