Snyk acquires CloudSkiff to provide enhanced drift detection capabilities

M&A

  • Snyk, a cloud-native application security startup, has announced the acquisition of CloudSkiff, an open-source platform that protects codified cloud infrastructure, for an undisclosed amount.

  • Founded in 2019, CloudSkiff provides the open-source tool driftctl to measure infrastructure-as-code (IaC) coverage and detect drifts outside of a developer’s IaC environment.

  • The acquisition will extend Snyk’s IaC capabilities to include scanning cloud environments to detect differences between intended configuration and the actual state, and to identify unmanaged resources in the IaC code base. This will also enable developers to detect blind spots in post-deployment changes in cloud infrastructures. CloudSkiff’s drift detection capabilities will be integrated into Snyk IaC platform, and Snyk will continue to develop driftctl further as an open-source tool.
