Carbon Clean Solutions, a British carbon capture and utilization company, has partnered with CEMEX, a Mexican supplier of building materials, to collaborate on a front-end engineering design (FEED) study.
The FEED study is for a carbon capture project that will be deployed at CEMEX’s Rudersdorf cement plant in Germany.
The first phase of the project aims to capture 100 tons of carbon dioxide (CO2) per day, which will be combined with hydrogen to produce synthetic hydrocarbons for other industries. For the second phase, the project plans to scale up by an additional 300 tons per day. Both project phases have been submitted for national and European funding and are expected to be operational by 2026.
The study will investigate the possibility of scaling up to 2,000 tons per day as the final phase.
