Sandbox & Co., a UK-based operator of edutainment products, acquired educational game development companies Edujoy and its sister company Tellmewow for an undisclosed amount.
Sandbox plans to integrate Edujoy and Telmewow into its Gaming vertical, which includes Poptropica, CoolMathGames, and Code Kingdoms. The newly acquired companies will continue to be led by co-founders Urtzi Jaureguibeitia and Isabel Liébana, under the guidance of Abhi Arya, president of Sandbox Gaming.
Founded in 2011, Spanish company Edujoy offers over 100 educational games for babies, toddlers, and kids up to 8 years old. Since its launch, Edujoy’s games have been downloaded over 500 million times globally, and the company has partnered with large international children’s brands like Masha and the Bear and Hello Kitty.
Founded in 2016, Tellmewow offers educational games and puzzles for adults. Since its launch, the company’s games, which include Hangman and word search, have been downloaded over 100 million times from the Apple App Store and Google Play.
