JustKitchen expands to the Philippines via joint venture

Partnerships

  • Canada-founded cloud kitchen operator JustKitchen announced that it had entered into a joint venture (JV) agreement with TDG Ventures Inc (TVI; a subsidiary of Transnational Diversified Group, [TDG]) to form and operate a cloud kitchen in the Philippines.

  • The JV company will operate under the name "JustKitchen TDG, Inc." Under the agreement, JustKitchen will maintain 51% ownership, with the remainder being owned by TVI.

  • The JV company will operate under a franchising and licensing rights agreement where JustKitchen TDG, Inc. will sub-franchise its portfolio of brands to local (Philippine) operators. The company will also look to develop necessary cloud kitchen infrastructure (facility, kitchen units, utilities, technology, etc.) to replicate the company’s hub-and-spoke model, operating in Taiwan, which will be leased out to sub-franchisees.

  • The construction of the facility is reported to start immediately with operations expected to begin by Q1 2022. Furthermore, the company stated that its facility will initially have two kitchen units and will look to expand the number of kitchens to 10 by end-2022.
