Aramark (a food service, facilities, and uniform services provider), partnered with Starship Technologies to roll out its autonomous delivery droids at Arizona State University's Tempe campus.
A fleet of 40 droids is in operation to deliver food from select eateries, but there are plans to expand campus dining partners over the academic year.
Starship already runs autonomous delivery operations at 10 campuses across the US (the last addition to which was Georgia Southern Statesboro Campus in August 2020). Starship also runs commercial autonomous delivery operations in Milton Keynes, UK, in partnership with Tesco and Co-op.
The partnership with Aramark might help to fast-track Starship’s campus rollouts, a key part of their growth strategy, as Aramark offers dining services for approximately 400 colleges and universities in the USA.
