• Biometric payment card technology provider IDEX Biometrics (IDEX) is partnering with an unnamed global tier-one smart card manufacturer to jointly develop biometric smart cards. 

• The cards will feature IDEX’s TrustedBio platform and a security controller from Infineon Technologies, along with an integrated microcontroller/power management unit (MCU/PMU) and biometric software including a proprietary card operating system, applets, and an inlay. 

<ul><li> Analyst QuickTake: This partnership should accelerate the commercialization of IDEX’s TrustedBio sensor and platform (which was launched in February 2020). Three months ago, IDEX was also selected by Chinese card manufacturer Union Smart Card Co . to develop the latter’s cold wallet visual payment card. Moreover, IDEX has partnered with Infineon Technologies in the past as well, as the companies launched a reference design for next-gen biometric smart card architecture in July 2021.</ul>
