ZeroAvia raises USD 35 million to develop a larger powertrain

Funding

  • ZeroAvia, a hydrogen-based aviation solutions developer, has raised USD 35 million to develop a 2–5 megawatt powertrain for a larger aircraft. The new round brings ZeroAvia’s total funding to USD 115 million.

  • The round was led by new investors Alaska Airlines and United Airlines. Existing investors, Amazon’s Climate Pledge Fund, AP Ventures, Breakthrough Energy Ventures, Horizons Ventures, Summa Equity, and Shell Ventures also participated.

  • The funding also targets the development of ZeroAvia’s 40–80-seater aircraft, turboprops by 2026, and regional jets by 2028.

  • Following the investment, United Airlines expects to order 50 ZA2000-RJ engines from ZeroAvia, with the option to buy 50 more.
