Revo Foods, a plant-based seafood company, has secured more than GBP 1.5 million (USD 1.78 million) in a debut funding round care of Hazelpond Capital, Eva Sommer, friends2grow, Jens Schumann, MKO Holdings, FFG Austrian Research Promotion Agency, and the Vienna Business Agency.
The company intends to utilize the new funds to accelerate the commercialization of its 3D-printed plant-based seafood, to increase its R&D, and to develop its 3D printing technology.
Revo Foods, formerly known as Legendary Vish, initially focused on producing plant-based seafood that can be consumed cold without preparation, such as plant-based smoked salmon strips and smoked salmon spread made from pea protein, citrus fiber, plant oils, and algae extract. The company intends to develop an automated production process and a plant-based salmon sashimi made using the company’s 3D printing technology.
Revo Foods hosted a tasting event for the debut of the world’s first 3D-printed, plant-based salmon called “Salmon with Attitude,” in partnership with Budapest Bagels cafe and it intends to launch its plant-based smoked salmon strips and smoked salmon spread across retail outlets in Vienna during summer 2021.
