REE Automotive, an Israeli company developing customizable four-wheel self-driving electric chassis platforms, is commencing trials of its P7 delivery platform, which is designed for medium-duty commercial delivery vehicles (Class 3–5).
The trials will take place in the UK and Israel, with plans to start customer evaluations in Q1 2022. The platform was developed targeting a US-based delivery van program, according to specifications from an unnamed delivery company. It allows commercial fleets to build a customized vehicle brand.
P7 is a modular platform that comes with its proprietary REEcorner and X-by-Wire technology that integrates all drive components into the arch of the wheel. The platform is designed to carry a maximum payload of 8,800 lbs (or equivalent to 30 passengers), with the ability to travel at speeds of up to 80 mph. It also gives visibility and insights to fleet operators on a data-as-a-service basis.
