HealthLeap, a South African health nutrition platform, has emerged from stealth and raised USD 1.1 million in a pre-seed funding round led by Fifty Years.
The funds will be used to grow its team with software engineers and data scientists to develop artificial intelligence (AI)-based tools further, for healthcare experts, including hospital dietitians, pharmacists, and physicians, to manage malnutrition. The company aims to become available worldwide, starting from the US.
Launched in April 2021, HealthLeap’s flagship product, NutriLeap, is a clinical assistance tool that helps healthcare professionals to diagnose at-risk patients for malnutrition in hospitals. Its mobile app recommends daily doses of an oral, tube, and IV feeding based on the personalized nutritional needs of patients. At present, its app has served 50 dietitians in a private beta launch and has 1,000 healthcare providers on its waitlist.
