Fingerprint Card AB (FPC), a fingerprint sensor and authentication software provider, announced that its “T-shape” sensor is certified as compliant with Mastercard’s new Fingerprint Sensor Evaluation Process. The testing includes stricter anti-spoofing capabilities, which can better detect attempts to trick the biometric payment system with fake fingerprint credentials.
FPC passed the former specifications of Mastercard’s Biometric Evaluation Plan Summary (BEPS) in March 2021, and the latest approval should simplify the process for card manufacturers in launching second-generation biometric payment cards.
FPC is a global biometric sensor and authentication software provider based in Sweden. It primarily offers fingerprint authentication technology and its solutions were implemented in over a billion devices and cards by the end of 2020. The company primarily caters to smartphone biometrics with its solutions used in nearly 550 smartphone models as of September 2021. In addition, it also offers biometric sensors for PCs, payment cards, and physical access controls for homes and offices.
