Vertical Roots to supply vertically produced lettuce to grocery retailer Food Lion

Partnerships

  • Vertical Roots, the consumer brand of vertical farming company AmplifiedAg, based in South Carolina, announced that it has entered into a partnership with Food Lion, a leading grocery retailer in the US.

  • Vertical Roots will supply fresh lettuce to 303 Food Lion grocery stores across the Southeast. The company will supply products from its Living Lettuces line, which includes products like Green Oak, Green Butter, Green Leaf, and large lettuce mixes.

  • The partnership comes amidst the growing awareness of consumers about the benefits of vertical farming, alongside the growing demand for fresh and locally sourced produce. With the partnership with Food Lion, Vertical Roots now supplies over 2,000 grocery stores in 13 states across the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic.

  • Vertical Roots also reported that it is continuously expanding its existing farms, with plans to open new vertical farms in centrally-located, high-demand regions in 2022. As of January 2022, Vertical Roots operates farms in Atlanta, Columbia, and Charleston.
