Kiteworks, a privacy-preserving file sharing platform, has announced the acquisition of the electronic communication security provider Totemo for an undisclosed amount.
Founded in 2001, Totemo provides solutions to secure electronic communication in compliance with regulations such as GDPR, SOX, and HIPAA. The company provides email encryption, secure data transfer, and secure mobile communications. The company serves hundreds of large multinational organizations across the German, Austrian, and Swiss markets.
Totemo’s technology will be integrated into the Kiteworks platform and will provide automatic coverage to secure, track, and control sensitive content metadata on users, apps, devices, networks, protocols, and files sent and received via emails across the corporate network in real time. The acquisition automates and expands the email encryption capabilities of the Kiteworks platform in accordance with S/MIME, OpenPGP, and TLS standards.
Founded in 1999, Kiteworks provides a platform to govern and secure the sharing of sensitive information such as personally identifiable information (PII), protected health information (PHI), and intellectual property (IP), in compliance with privacy regulations such as the GDPR. The platform unifies, tracks, controls, and secures all sensitive content sent via email, file share, managed file transfer, web forms, and application programming interfaces (APIs).
