Infarm, a Berlin-based hydroponic vertical farming system startup offering herbs and green leaves, announced an exclusive supply partnership with Crisp, an online retailer in the Netherlands.
Crisp’s customers will now have access to Infarm’s assortment of 13 herbs, which include Italian basil, curly parsley, thyme, melissa, sage, and oregano via the Crisp app. Further, according to the partnership, Infarm will become Crisp’s exclusive supplier for fresh herbs from March onwards.
Infarm will supply produce to Crisp on demand from its Growing Center in Amstelveen, which is constructed within 20 km from Crisp’s central distribution location. It can harvest 500,000 plants per year in a 300 sq meters (3,229 sq ft) farm area. Infarm plans to double the capacity of the growing center during the year by installing a new large-scale farming unit and expanding its offering to mushrooms and fruity crops such as strawberries, tomatoes, and peas.

Analyst Quicktake: The partnership comes amidst Infarms’ commitment to expanding its presence to 100 growing centers across 20 countries by 2030. Previously, in October 2021, Infarm partnered with the virtual supermarket Rohlik.cz to offer its greens in the Czech Republic, marking its foray into the Eastern European market. The company has also raised USD 200 million in its recent round of funding in December 2021, to support its global expansion plans.
