VerticalAgri, a Norwegian startup that manufactures vertical farming systems and sells vertically produced greens and salads, announced that it is building a new 161,000-square-foot vertical farm in Norway that would be able to supply to five major cities in Norway.
The new facility will be the first large-scale vertical farm for VerticalAgri. The facility will be used for farming, along with R&D, and would also feature a mobile module system where new modules can be added as required. VerticalAgri has reportedly funded the construction of its new farm on its own and expects to attract investment based on its financial structure.
Founded in 2021, VerticalAgri is an aquaponic-based vertical farming company. The company has planned to run a pilot farm in Svalbard, Sweden to test its aquaponic cultivation system. The company plans for its first cultivation in March 2022, where they expect to harvest strawberries, leafy greens, salads, and microgreens. The company also aims to offer farming systems for dairy farmers on lease.
